First time Munzee-ing family and loved it!

First time Munzee-ing and loved it!

This half-term we launched the new Norwich Munzee Trail, a pilot project brought to you by NCC’s Public Health and Norfolk Trails. The Norfolk Trails Munzee gang were in the Forum in Norwich on Wednesday 29th October telling everybody and anybody about Munzee. We were there with our brand-spanking new leaflet to get everyone talking about the ‘M’ word. There was lots of interest from ages 7 to 77. The tiny-tots loved the Norfolk Trails Munzee Adventurer character and the older generation had fun with the app. We were even featured on the evening news for the local TV channel Mustard TV – watch the clip here.

But before anything else….’What is this Munzee and how can we join in’ you ask?

Munzee? It is an exciting 21st century scavenger hunt, using smartphones and Munzee QR code stickers. Just think of an urbanized, streamlined version of geocaching.

To get started simply download the free App from the Google Play Store, IPhone App Store or Windows Store, or direct from the Munzee website. When you’ve done that you can start the fun!

You can find our trail on the ‘map’ section of the App – we are the pink icons (thanks to the lovely Munzee team in America). Select one of these icons, read the clue and find the Munzee QR code stickers all around the city.

Go onto the ‘capture/deploy’ section of the App, scan or ‘capture’ the stickers by hovering your phone over the code.

Find these Munzee stickers all along the trail, answer quiz questions and score points!

So now we know a bit about what a Munzee is, we can start the fun.

Download your own copy of the leaflet and map here Norwich Munzee Trail Leaflet. Use this along side the App to find the Munzee loactions (this will help save your phone’s battery).

We have tried and tested the trail and we have to say its rather addictive! But you can start and finish the trail any time. Dip in an out of it when you next come to Norwich shopping, or just visiting some sites. Watch this teaser video to see what we got up to testing the Norwich Munzee Trail.

But wait a minute…we want to know what you think – follow the link from the App or leaflet to our survey and let us know what you thought of the Norwich Munzee Trail – you have until the 30th November to be entered into a Prize Draw to win prizes including a ghost walk with a meal for 4 at the Adam and Eve pub or one of 25 family passes to Norwich Castle!!

Visit the Norfolk Trails Munzee Webpage for more info.
